You could write a short shell script that cycles through the different preference files: goes to next one in a list when you quit pianoteq.

is there any way to change the output device without the GUI, i.e. running headlessly? Either through preset change, MIDI command or as command line option? It would be enough to be able to specify different preferences files?

There are to settings, "audio-setup" and "audio-setup-prev" in the settings file, can I switch between them?
