Thanks for the replies! I have got it fixed. I'm going to post a detailed note about my setup, later today, in case it might help anybody, or I might get some more helpful feedback. I'm using PulseAudio and Jack, by the way, seems to work well in my case. Since I have both pulseAudio sink and Pianoteq connected to Ecasound (which does my DSP/crossovers), my son can listen to his piano lessons and play along. I don't know if this is unique to using Jack, or not. Another fun thing I can think of would be playing an orchestral accompaniment and playing the piano along with it (I assume such solo-less accompaniment CD's might be available).

When I first began using Pianoteq I used the Jack midi connection (on Ubuntu Studio) but had xrun problems -- I never could get it configured to my satisfaction. I switched over to Pulseaudio and have had no problems at all. Good latency and no stuttering or skips at all. I'm using an old Lenovo Thinkpad, a T420s.

Hi, I had Pianoteq working fine on my Linux system for a couple years (64 sample buffer, no overruns), but recently made some changes and now I can't seem to get it back working. I use midi over usb. (But I think I could use straight midi connection with my sound card, if recommended.) Could someone please remind me how to configure a2jmidid, seq/raw, midi tab or alsa tab, what to connect with what, etc. Once I run a2jmidid -e, there are so many choices; I have tried a lot of things, but can't get it to work. When I click a key on Pianoteq app, it works and sounds great, but the actual piano won't make a sound. I tested the usb cable/connection and it seems fine (works ok in Windows version, but sound is pitiful without my Linux setup). Thanks in advance!
