Both instances will use the same activation slot (your computer is still the same) so you can safely activate with the second ".prefs" file. Or you can just duplicate the original Pianoteq60.prefs file, if you don't want to have to activate the second instance.

Thank you Julien,

The problem when I try the ".prefs" method is that PTQ6 loses its activation.. it asks me again for it.

With PTQ5 happened the same but I managed to figure out the problem which was that I wasn't running it as administrator, once I did, I got the two instances working fine.

Running PTQ6 as administrator doesn't get by the problem though, so I run out of options now..

If you just want to switch between two outputs, you may try to do a ctrl-click on the '(!)' panic button at the bottom right of the interface -- it show a dialogs that lists the last known working audio output, so it can be pretty handy.

Otherwise the "--prefs FILENAME" command-line option is still working, if you add it to the shortcut lauching Pianoteq, it will use a preferences file that is not the default one. It should not be different from what it was with Pianoteq 5.

Thank you Joe,

But I'd like to have two different shortcuts, each shortcut opens an instance of PTQ6 with different output settings.

I guess Guillaume advised once a work around and it did the trick for V5 but the same method it's not working for the V6..

It was like creating 2 different ".prefs" files and assigning one of them to each shortcut of PTQ5.

Wonder if any clue on that.. thanks.

If you have a DAW such as Digital Performer or Logic Pro (won't name others, because I have zero experience with other DAWs), it's easy to set up two instances of Pianoteq 6 and assign them to different Midi channels. My guess is that you were speaking about the Standalone version of Pianoteq. Yes?

Cheers,

Joe

Hi all,

I just happily upgraded to PTQ 6 and I'm now trying to create two different shortcuts with different sound outputs each.

I know that's somewhat related to the .prefs file, I managed to do it with PTQ 5 but it's becoming impossible with PTQ 6..

Wonder whether there's any trick to solve this, any clue?

Thanks in advance!
