Probably a very old topic - I see that note sustain can be altered using the "direct sound duration" and "impedance" parameters. There may be other parameters useful for doing this as well that I don't know about. It seems though that the sound eventually dies out no matter what the parameter settings. Is there a way to INCREASE the sound volume over time within the model (without using any external software or hardware), or to have it increase then decrease (over pre-specified periods of time for the increase then the decrease) or vice versa so that note expressiveness can be altered musically? You could have the beginnings of a virtual cello - a piano that actually sings - at your fingertips .... one could layer different instances of Pianoteq within a DAW to simulate the expressiveness of different voices within a composition over time. Maybe as a first step extend the direct sound duration to support level and increasing volume over time, and support a few velocity curves (up/down, down/up etc over different durations). If early piano makers could have discovered a way to pump energy into decaying strings and soundboards then piano composition would have taken an altogether different route.
