Hello everybody,

I am currently using PTQ stage, mainly for practicing with a VPC-1 (which I find entirely satisfying btw).
I usually play with headphones on, but, from time to time, when my flatmates are out, I love to plug the beast in.
For this purpose, I have a pair of Yamaha MS101II monitors.
Even though I find them powerful enough to fill my (rather tiny) room, I find the sound too dry and bright compared to the one a "real" piano would make : so to speak, the monitors feel like two speakers directed at me, with no "presence" at all.
I know this is an old and often-debated problem on here, and that, to some extent, any external speaker will have it. To be sure, I'm not expecting anything to replace a real soundboard.
I was wondering, though, if I couldn't improve the situation by switching from "dry" monitors to a "surround" setting.
I know some of you will now swear in sanskrit, but I repeat that - for my purposes - I don't need any "high fidelity" to what the recorded track will sound like (I can plug my monitors back for that), but a pleasant and "present" sound in a rather small environment.

Having said that, I was considering to buy a 2.1 surround bar, and the Yamaha YAS-93 ( http://altadefinizione.hdblog.it/2014/0...-e-yas-93/ ) or its bigger brother YAS-103 ( https://www.avforums.com/review/yamaha-...view.10480 ) looked quite appealing to me. Not only it seems to be the best value for money (and budget IS an issue for me), but also to have similar - or even better - specs if compared to my old MS101II (if that comparison makes any sense).

Has anyone already tried the YAS series, or any other surround bar, with PTQ ? Do you feel that the output could be satisfying for the purpose I seek - again, not a crystal-clear sound, but mainly presence ?

EDIT Making an effort, I could also think of buying an YSP-1400, if you think it's worth it.
