Ahaa...on another setup I use the EMU 0404USB, which does not work multi-client.

There I use the internal Realtek audio device for mp3 and internet audio stuff, and have it connected via its spdif ( optical) output towards the optical input connector of the EMU unit.

Then I use Reaper with the EMU as audio device, and I have set up a Reaper projectfile that has a mixer strip for this input channel, along with a "pianoteq" strip, so I can mix them both.

THis should work with any stand-alone audio device as long as it has a physical input ( preferably SPDIF of course).

Greetings.

My M-Audio USB audio interface is also multi-client, and allows me to play normal Windows audio (YouTube etc) whilst I use Pianoteq or any other ASIO application. I have made a feature request to the ASIO4ALL developer about this issue quite some time ago.

Greg.

If you're using ASIO4ALL, I suppose you're using the internal soundcard. That's probably the problem. Most "professional" audio interfaces should be able to use several audio streams together, in one way or another. (I use Tascam, MOTU & Focusrite interfaces without any issue so far)
BTW, interesting link Geert... ;-)

It can depend on which audio interface you use.

Besides, it is always wise to play Pianoteq as a VST plug-in f.i. in Reaper. You can also play more then 1 instance of Pianoteq that way.

I use the MOTU Microbook II. It is more or less multi-client, so that it can work with ASIO, and at the same time playback the Windows Audio Stack.........

When using a sequencer ( Reaper), you will also be able to playback what,s on the input connectors of your audio device. For example a synth or so.

But I know, that not all audio devices are that flexible! So go for the MOTU...!!

See also: http://blog.szynalski.com/2009/11/17/an...sta-and-7/

I like to play along with songs in my mediamonkey library and Youtube, but if I have Pianoteq running, it seems to not allow any other audio sources to play. Is there a way I can configure my laptop to allow this? I'm running on Windows 8 with the ASIOFORALL that I had to download.
