My answer is that I have adapted my own playing style to create a ppp through fff range with my fingers alone, just as if I were playing an acoustic grand piano with no additional amplification.  Joe

And I think you are right... it is at least my opinion. And finally, I think it is the biggest problem with digitals: all is tweakable... And then we are tempted to tweak the piano or the software to our fingers... I too think that the piano settingmust be standard and fixed to help the pianist to search his sound.

I am just curious why some people set the keyboard sensitivity too light and in a way that makes them play high midi values while they are playing only moderately hard...

I happen to leave Pianoteq's velocity compensation as a ruler-flat line between 0 and 127.  As I play this on an ancient 24-year old Roland A-80 mother controller keyboard, I also leave the Roland's velocity curve as an exact linear setting.

Sometimes (often), the velocity  values (midi in, x axis) shown are high while the person who is playing seems to play quite soft...
I am intrigued...

On my Roland HP-507 (PHA3 keyboard), I use the factory setting for the kb sensitivity. The value is 70.

With this setting, I must play very hard to achieve midi values greater than +/-120 on pianoteq. For me it is normal because values higher than 120 correspond to a FFF, which is exceptionally played.

It would be great if you could share your experience... What do you think about that? How do you set your keyboard's sensitivity? How do you know that the sensitivity setting is right on your controler?
