This issue has not yet been resolved, unfortunately. Meanwhile you can either use the 64-bit version of Live or use the AudioUnit version of Pianoteq instead of the VST. Both options should work fine.

I'm using standalone under Mavericks 10.9.5 with a MacPro and a regular display (non-retina) and don't have any problem.
