Anyway really loved the software, it is really THE virtual piano. Hope I could play more extensive classical pieces but again - was limited by not using the muted keys.

Hi Matthew,

I'm very happy to hear that you are interested, check up other videos "with numbers" on Russian, later I plan to redo them and some more in English. If you are really crazy about learning the piano I can tell you where to get that Leschetizky book. It is currently as far as I know only sold privately by a person who wrote it, S. Maltsev in S.-Petersburg, though the printing quality is outstanding. I can connect you directly if you wish to get it from him. It is quite different from Neuhaus book which I find more "all around" one, the Leschetizky book is more like a kind of Lego instructions - just do it and you'll get it. It contain lots of very simple exercises which most people will not do because they seem too simple and obvious. For me it is a #1 piano book on earth Though I don't remember a word from it - everything adopted and transformed for myself already.

Hi Andrei,

I'm sure there many people would be grateful for your videos on Pianoworld. I also participate in that forum occasionally.

I just watched a two of your videos, "О себе" and "упражнение 1 нота" (studying languages is my other passion, and fortunately I know Russian well). I very much appreciated your thoughts, and was especially delighted by your remark that I can play a single note just as well as Gould (as you said, the trouble starts when I try to play two or more!). You're making a valuable contribution, and I'm looking forward to watching more of the videos. I have been teaching myself piano since I was 25 (4 years), and have learned and played all of Bach's inventions, but I eventually reached a certain plateau where I could no longer improve the quality of the playing, or speed them up in order to play at more suitable tempi (for example, at the tempo you played Inv. #1). Since I can't currently afford lessons, I appreciate the efforts of those who share their knowledge for free through online mediums.

I read the Russian version of Neuhaus's book a while ago, which was immensely helpful, but I know nothing about Leschetizky's methods. I will have to do some research.

Okay… sorry everyone for going off on a tangent. Back to Pianoteq!

@custral

No, showing mikes does not mean using them, I capture the sound on a main computer syncing ASIO stream from Pianoteq and using an extended cable for a webcam placed aside. I grab the mikes to try how it sounds capturing from the speakers, because I thought ambient noises could add realism, but decided not to use them lately. Maybe the best way will be to mix the direct sound with a little bit of ambient sound (finger noises, etc.) though in this case I'd better play in the headphones.

I plan to just to cut some music from the long takes or use the whole takes with a shot complete music. I hope that showing the interface on a monitor is enough, I don't plan to make any text. ...Ok, I reconsidered about the text, I'll make it just to be 100% sure.

@mattew

Thank you very much for your kind words. I'd like to play more but was limited by not using some of the keys disabled in demo version of Pianoteq. BTW for my taste that Bach was a bit too expressive ;) If I tell you where I study it'll have no meaning. If I'd tell which person helped me most with playing - I'd say with no doubt it is T. Leshetizky. I made no secrets from how I play and I have a tremendous will to spread the knowledge, and I really discovered the key fundamental principles of playing which are the most important thing. I plan to record some kind of lectures and to post them to pianoworld.com forums or you always welcome to contact me directly if needed.

You seem to be setting up for a production vidding just onto the laptop, and showing likely just the Pianoteq GUI, while capturing the speakers with the mikes as shown. You also seem able to play stuff extempore, and well,
out of your head. And the deadline's coming fast.

So, forget any nerves, no reason for those, extemporise short stretches which aim to be more or less complete and varied, while meantime PTQ auto-records your playing as MIDI. Listening back to these short stretches will help tidy them up. Once they're all shipshape and finalised to MIDI, forget them, organise your Pianoteq settings.

You'll now have the MIDIs plus their settings to vid in a sequence. Do them separate then join. What you'd do for any text overlay, dunno. I'd be tempted to forget it, rely on extreme diffs in sound to 'talk' instead.

Deadline's coming!

Thank you, dear Mr. Lanny!

Actually I feel kind of tired and not so creative after arranging all that recording equipment and software, and the competition factor spoils a bit, make me feel nervous. Yes, resonances for the win! Also I'm very impressed by and like to use 80-100 dB dynamics - it make it sound so very real, though playing the passages are extremely hard to play keeping level close, considering a very short keys of my keyboard. Here is some Bach I found without "demo keys": http://youtu.be/ptJh1XA_xyg

Dear Mr. AKM,

When it comes to showing the depth of detail that Pianoteq produces, you have the right idea . . . the pedaling resonances and tonal detail. One thing in particular that is super is the fact that your selections emphasize the quality of the sound in the middle range. The middle range of the piano keyboard is most challenging to replicate.
As an aside . . . in the first video, it appears to be in day but the other videos are at night. It is 'reflected' in your playing. Very nice work.

Kudos,

Lanny
