Not sure how many hours it would take you researching the components, ordering them all from dabs.com, making sure you are home for them to be delivered, building it, testing it.... so you need to factor all that into the price. How much is your time worth per hour?
I built a PC based on a review of components found at: http://silentpcreview.com/ It turned out to be quite quiet indeed. But to your point, it did take a lot of time - although I did save a fair bit of cash.

Aren't there several versions of Fit-PC2 over the years? I once had something based on an AMD Geode single-core, guess named LX-something. But it just had around 500-800MHz cpu-freq. It was one of my first passively cooled PCs (but was getting really hot). Is that really enough on that platform to play without noticeable latency?? Or which specs does it have?

With my Bay-trail Netbook, that I use for playing PTQ, I have a performance index of 22 and even with that absolutely no latency issues (1,3 ms nominal).
I know, that Performance indices are more a rule-of-thumb, but is a Celeron 1037u not also better than mobile Bay Trail in other benchmarks?

I havent tried my laptop with a T9300 cpu, but it will probably be OK
The celeron 1037u has a benchpass mark of 1780 which is regarded as OK by many, although a forum member has stated that for maximum latency/function etc, a minimum of 2000 pasmark is desirable
