Reading this and the linked post got me thinking, and I just messed around with the string length parameter. The fact that it can be changed per-note is brilliant! Now I can adjust each note until the harsh overtones that were bothering me are gone, but the character of the sound isn't changed! I think it's the best way to adjust individual "problem" notes or a problem register. A little nudge one way or the other seems to do the trick! I guess the piano makers adjust the hammer position to deal with this, but I find that the strike point setting is overly sensitive and hard to get just the right sound I want. But changing string length is exactly what I needed to do!

Hi forum,
Looking at the images above, how does the 'Note Edit' panel for the 'String Length' panel (yellow line default 2.70 metres (not Spectrum Profile)) relates to strings A-1 to C7 on a grand piano? I don't know the string lengths of these strings, so what am I affecting if I drag A1 all the way up to 10 metres and C7 all the way down to 0.80 metres. The natural curve longer to shorter strings must be set in the default settings already, yet the yellow is showing a straight line as if all the strings are set at 2.70 metres.
What if this panel showed the actual curve of the strings?
