Ah, thanks (once again) Philippe for your advice, and sorry for posting another thread about the same subject, although this time my definition of the "problem" was more precise, with the example mp3 and all.

I really like the bluethner's royal, majestic sound, with its characteristic "sweetness" in the upper range, especially when you boost the treble frequencies a bit.. through a massive cathedral-like reverb it sounds really really nice.

So when's a spring promo for buying add-ons coming up?

As mentionned, you can lower this 8th partial if you wish in the voicing panel (standard version) or even not per note (pro version).

I don't think so, since it only happens in the middle range, most prominently in the middle-c octave. Plus, if i turn down the "aliquot strings" setting to the minimum, i can still hear it.

Weird thing is, i don't hear it (much) on the demos of the bluethner on the site.

Isn't that the aliquot stringing with this model? I've might have heard that effect being described somewhere else.

This has been bugging me since i got the bluethner add-on. To illustrate, here's a 2-octave chromatic scale generated with Renoise, notes at 80 velocity. Listen around half to 2/3 of the file, especially the notes surrounding and above the middle C for this weird metallic quality that sounds kind of like an octave-doubling effect.

This is the preset "Bluethner Model One BA"
