This is what they do, and they're AWESOME at it. It's not too hard to get a realistic sounding drum kit from samples, if you use them well. Cymblas are the hard part, especially ride cymbals, but it's definitely doable. As for stringed instruments like any kind of guitar, bass, (solo) violin, etc.... these are just impossible to synthesize realistically. I'd love to stop using windows forever. The only things that keep me in Windows are Reason and Live.

I am desperately waiting for BitWig to come out. Also, Pianoteq would be one of the things I'd use a lot.

About the drum samples, I would beg to disagree with you strongly. Phantom notes are impossible with samples. Besides, drum libraries are limited and HUGE in size. Also, they try to give you some variation using multisamples, but, hey; I don't wanna use 8 GB of RAM on multisamples!

IMHO, drums should be the first thing Pianoteq should take on as an expansion of their stuff. They're, already, kind of at it with the steel drums samples and all that.

The good thing about pianos is that they have everything: they're percussive and string-based instruments. IMHO, they already tackled the hardest. They, surely, can do a great job synthetizing string-based instruments.

Good to have a chat about things, delt! Have a great day.

Hello guys!

I am very interested in the Pianoteq 4 software; mainly because:

- it works on GNU & LInux
- The quality is unsurpassed
- Size

I am a Creative Commons musician: http://jamendo.com/artist/renich

I do soft instrumental, melodic piano themes and all it's totally free and 100% Creative Commons.

I was wondering if I could ask for a discount. I live in México and $510 is, actually, quite a bit of money here.

Also, I am going to buy the Acuma 88; from StudioLogic.

I will make my new album with Pianoteq and all. Thanks a lot for this fantastic software. Long live the mathematical models!

Also, any plans to make a bass and drums instrument? When that happens, good bye everything else! Moddart will rule the world!
