I thought something similar when I read the description. What is the engine and how does it affect the pianos and other instruments? I would think that the core engine affects every instrument. Would different pianos need a different engine and set of algorithms i.e. Steinway and Bosendorfer to achieve their sound in the same that these pianos are built differently?

In the description for the release of Pianoteq 4.5 it is stated "Pianoteq 4.5 includes an updated engine using an improved physical model of the hammer/string interaction which benefits the new U4 Upright Piano as well as the D4, K1, YC5 and Blüthner Model 1 grand pianos. The timbre variation is now more refined, bringing more intimacy at pianissimo and stronger attack at fortissimo."

Does this update to the engine benefit the KIViR pianos such as the Pleyel model F or are the U4, D4, K1, YC5 and Blüthner Model 1 pianos the only to take advantage of the change?
