That's very true. But I couldn't resist to write the "tons" joke.
And indeed, like already stated here, U4 doesn't use twice as many resources, just "more". Works still very fine here, so I'm all happy.

No, not all, yet surely many. To make all happy and make sure users who don't buy a new machine every 2-3 years (which, for 80% of all people would in fact be nonsense, yet nearly all do, and yes, I am aware some really need always the newest machine) would buy our great piano also - quite a lot of software, like NI massive or IK Multimedia amplitube and more, have exactly what you say - kind of "eco" and "normal" and "ultra" configurations. Just don't forget there are people in the world who have to ask themselves a) a better machine? and b) ....or more superb software but still using the 6 year old dual core. That's reality for some of us.
But your idea is great, Beto-music. Options for hungry versions, why not?

He can be small (upright) but have a huge stomach.

I supose all models could have options for "hungry" versions. if the sound can get better with more CPU power required (to computate more piano sound details) many people would be dispose to try.

Today most people use computers with more power than required for pianoteq.

P4 is single-core and Pianoteq utilizes multiple cores really well, so if you have only one core, you're in deep.

Advice, forget about ye olde P4.

Thanks for the confirmation Julien. About the actual increase percentage; I guess it depends on the CPU type. I've installed Pianoteq on 3 different PC configurations (old P4, E6300, Atom Dual Core) and on the P4 it's almost 2x more CPU. I haven't tested the U4 on my other PCs yet. BTW, I'm not complaining at all about this increase in CPU if it is required to get the proper sound, I was just wondering if what I was experiencing was normal. Thanks for the clarification.

Yes this is expected, the specific model used for the U4 is a bit more heavy on the cpu, it is not 2x more, but it is definitively more.

I bought the new U4 add-on and I'm very happy to finally get an upright piano from Modartt. However, I've noticed that compared to the D4, Bluethner and most other Modartt pianos, the U4 uses almost twice the amount of CPU. I wouldn't be surprised this is because of higher physical modeling requirements for uprights but since I'm not the devs, it's just a guess. Could Modartt confirm if this increase CPU usage is normal for the U4? Thanks.
