You're probably right and I think this is not a good idea to install pianoteq in an USB live distribution... Too bad, I was a nice dream...

Yes it would be REALLY nice to have the option to use of our 3 activation licenses on a portable device such as a USB drive, and no, I don't see any issues regarding loosing the "activated" portable device, just go in the Pianoteq User Area and deactivate the license on that portable device and use the "freed" license on another USB drive. If ever you find your old de-activated USB drive, just don't use it anymore, these things are so inexpensive nowadays.

Right.
I may have had brain flatulence when I typed that.
For some odd reason I was thinking that de-activation had to be done on the system that the license was installed on, so that the de-activate mechanism could find and disable it.
(which is probably true on ...something else that I have)

I still think the licensing acts on more than one hardware item to generate the hash )-;

hum.. the only "caveat" I see is the ever growing number of USB devices we have to plug. I recently have big, big troubles with my desktop usb ports indicating an overload and it might be the cause of loosing a hard drive... or even my motherboard. Count this: a pair of printers (yeah, a BW laser and a colour "multi function") a pair of external hard diks, an audio interface, keyboard + mouse, a card reader, and so on... It's becoming more and more difficult to manage.
IMHO, an option to use just one icense on a portable device would be fine but the current licensing scheme should also be kept.

I doubt very much that you can do that.
As I understand the license management scheme the activation code is generated (via some algorithm) from some of your system's hardware details. I don't know exactly what these are, but suspect that the hard disk (or SSD) serial number is part of it, probably some characteristic of the CPU as well. There are various bits of every system's hardware that have serial numbers, allowing it to be uniquely identified and allowing unique license codes to be generated, i.e. EXCLUSIVE codes.

Pianoteq on USB distribution & Activation

Hello,
Please excuse my english, I'm french native speaker.
I'm beginner and I use pianoteq demo with a VMK161 at work for training my piano. It's a great program, and I think I'll buy it in a short time.
I have a question. Can I install pianoteq on a USB Live distribution (UbuntuStudio, TangoStudio...) and run it in different computers, or will the activation process forbidden this ?
I know I can install pianoteq up to 3 of my computers (home & work), but I plan to use a live distribution to run pianoteq when I'm visiting family or friends and I dont want to carry my computer (the Studiologic keyboard is heavy enough)
