I am glad there's already a topic about this. I would absolutely love to see a Windows RT version of PianoTeq. Plugging a midi controller into my Surface to use the D4 would be very sexy!

well, I just did a gig 2 weeks ago with a laptop and I must admit that if any tablet could have replaced it, it would have been more practical. BTW, I used just ONE sound, the D4, that I adjusted to my taste in the studio beforehand, so the PC is acting just as a "synth" (stand-alone mode). "Set it and forget it" mode ;-)

But midi keyboard it' not very portable.... Not more than a laptop, which can run pianoteq much better than a ipad.

No, no, he's speaking of using an iPad to run the program, but having it attached to a midi keyboard. The gain would be in portability and having a touch screen interface.

Well, I have to admit that I haven't kept up with the latest specs for the iPad. I'm seeing now that the latest chip runs at about 1Ghz. But does the operating system support complex programs? Are there even fully developed word processors for the iPad?

Sorry, but from my side it was never meant to be a joke. The 2nd and 3rd generation iPads should be very capable of running Pianoteq. There are currently many, very good (and deep) professional quality synthesizer apps for iPad, so I'm sure that the reason there is not yet a Pianoteq app is not due to technical reasons.

given that Win 8 would be optimized or COULD be optimized for audio (latency), wich I would not trust until tested.. given all the problems I have with a Win 7/64 laptop right now: an i5, 4 GB largely outperformed by a Core duo 2 Gb with Win XP !!!

Some more details have been released about the upcoming Surface pad;

It's slightly larger than an iPad and it appears to have a 1.5 GHz processor and 2 gigs of RAM. Which means that it may well run PianoTeq. We've joked earlier about having an iPad version. This may be the next best thing. The basic unit is $699US. (EDIT: The lower priced RT version won't load additional programs.)

Would presumably allow:

Touch screen operation of all of Pianoteq controls.
Greater portability. Could sit on top of the keyboard, it seems.

With the 1.5 GHz processor, it may run a host too--Cubase and Pianoteq on a pad? Could be good. Expensive, perhaps, but better than a laptop?
