yes, currently latency is definitely an issue on Android (a big one). Let's see if it's going to be better later... It seems that Java is the source of the problem, and that it will be adressed via C#: Xobot OS project, see here:

The latest Android devices certainly could run Pianoteq (some are quad core ~1.3GHz ARMv7), but I think audio latency is a bit of an issue on Android devices. I haven't looked into it much, but I guess there's a lot of variety with the different devices out there even if the hardware for some of them could support low latency. I think Apple's devices are probably the best option for low latency audio apps right now.
