...what an international community of fate - same problem here in Cologne

I am using OS 10.7.2, Logic 9.1.6 (64 bit) and PTEQ 3.6.7.

In two (veeery full) sessions I had the same problem: no offline bounce possible. After several hours of trial and error I found it was PTEQ that caused the trouble. Oh Horror...

Realoading PTEQ sometimes solves the problem, indeed!!
Claudio

PS: Do the PTEQ-guys care about the troubles mentioned in this forum?

Thanks, Brent and Joe, for your replies.

Brent and I have exactly the same results with our Logic bounce attempts. I haven't tried it in 32-bit mode, as I won't use the plug if I can't use it in 64-bit, as too many of my projects are in 64-bit, and to reduce the time involved to restructure everything just to allow Pianoteq to work, I'd rather use a different plug if in fact it refuses to work in 64-bit.

The Pianoteq current 64-bit version ( 3.6.7 ) was indeed working just fine under Logic 9.1.5 ; no issues whatsoever. None of my other 3rd party plugs are having issues with the bounce.

One fix I found that works, is unloading the Pianoteq and then reloading it. The bounce in 64-bit then seems to work with multiple tracks running.

FWIW - I'm not using the "Pro" version of Pianoteq - just the standard one.

Thanks again for the replies - hopefully Modartt can address this situation ASAP.

Best,
John.

I too was having the same problem, and I have a similar setup to the poster above.
I tried reloading everything but it didn't work – perhaps I wasn't using the right method?

Anyway, opening Logic Pro in 32-bit mode (Applications > Ctrl-click Logic Pro > Get Info > Open in 32-bit mode) worked for me. But it's not ideal.

Dan

I also am seeing this issue with the latest Logic and Pianoteq.

A typical session setup for me includes:
Logic 9.1.6 running in 64bit
Pianoteq Play 3.6.7 (64bit)
Kontakt 5.0.1 (64bit)
Omnisphere (64bit -- only sometimes)

The funny thing is that if I delete everything down to just one track (pianoteq) it bounces fine. It's only when there are multiple tracks that I see this problem.

I've been following Johnny's posting on the Logic Pro Help website for bouncing problems with Logic 9.1.6 and when he spotted Pianoteq as the culprit I hopped over here to see what people were saying here.

Offline bounce fails with Logic 9.1.6 in both OSX 10.7.2 and 10.6.3 (my backup).

I haven't tried a 32bit project as all my existing ones were setup for 64bit but I can try that later today.

Brent

Hello Johnny,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing bounce bugs with 3.6.7 and Logic Pro 9.1.6.

I attempted to reproduce your bug by bouncing an existing Pianoteq track in Logic Pro 9.1.6, ... and had no problem doing so.

Just for fun, I looked at what version of Pianoteq I was using. Lo and behold!! I was only running Pianoteq Pro Version 3.6.5!!! Upon leaping to Pianoteq's download screen, I immediately downloaded and installed the 3.6.7 version of Pianoteq Pro and tried again.

The same non-problem issue arose when I attempted to bounce. It worked perfectly.

Here are a few items for thought as I ponder your problem:

I happen to be running the 32-bit version of Logic Pro 9.1.6; by chance are you running the 64-bit version??? If so, you might wish to try switching back to 32 bit to see if anything happens.

It turns out that version 9.1.6 is a somewhat new update of Apple Logic Pro 9. Question for you: Were you able to bounce Pianoteq 3.6.7 in Logic Pro's previous version??? I don't know the answer to this question; rather, I am suggesting some troubleshooting routes.

My version of Pianoteq 3.6.7 is Pianoteq PRO. I don't know what version you are running (Pro, Standard, Play), and I don't know if there is a bug in either the Standard or Play version -- but I assure you that Pianoteq PRO version 3.6.7 does bounce with complete stability.

Perhaps this may open the field for questions or responses from Modartt.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Joe

Bouncing in Logic is doing a "mixdown" of all tracks into a stereo final mix. With the current version of Pianoteq used as a plug-in within Apple's Logic Pro 9.1.6, there is an issue that, when Pianoteq is loaded, Logic refuses to allow you to "mixdown" into a stereo file, a mix of the tracks in your project.

Hopefully an update will be created for Pianoteq which fixes this.

Just FYI - Logic will not Bounce a Mix ( Logic 9.1.6 ) if you load a template containing the latest version of Pianoteq. Removing the plug-in and then reloading it allows for the Bounce. This is a bug I've tested several times, and is present in each of my tests.

Best,
JF
