Thanks a lot! Specialy New Aunts by Kyle Gann is great.
I tested a lot of virtual pianos of all kind of technics. Many of them are great. But I dont believe, that one of them could replace a real grand in serious piano music in the future. And I don´t think, that this often heard kind of pop-film-minimal-music around here in many demos needs new technologie.

But I can imagine interesting music with pinaoteq using microtuning and sonic variations. I will try next year...

I'm not sure if such a thread exists already, but I couldn't find a search button. (UPDATE: found it :P )

What attracted me Pianoteq was not only its amazing modeling, but also that it actually implements microtuning.

Good microtonal music—music in tuning systems that 'break' common practice theory in some way—is even more rare than microtonally-capable synthesizers. What microtonal music is being made using Pianoteq that people recommend?

One of the few concert pianists interested in microtonality is Aron Kallay. On this page (http://aronkallay.com/Media/Pianist/Pianist.html) the works by Ben Johnston and Kyle Gann use extended just intonation tunings, and were performed using Pianoteq.

Chris Vaisvil is a prolific improviser and composer in the Indianapolis area, whom I've hosted in Champaign-Urbana several times. On his site (http://chrisvaisvil.com/) there are a number of works which use Pianoteq microtonally, accompanied by a stunning variety of compositional and technical techniques.

I recently caved and bought Pianoteq myself, in order to render some older works of mine in a new light. You can listen at http://jacobbarton.bandcamp.com/album/e...-moontense

I know it can be a big hump to get past hearing microtonal music as being 'out of tune' and to start hearing it as 'new ways to be IN tune'. But I hope my music and other microtonal music can be friendly introductions.

Are there other examples of microtonal uses of Pianoteq that folks are aware of?

Also, consider yourselves all invited to the 2012 UnTwelve Microtonal Composition Competition! http://untwelve.org/2011_competition.html This year there is a special category for piano performance...
