U will not hear any difference, better save money, only if U need different connections, but U can use direct box, for pro applications, like stage or recording studio ... .

Thanks, by the way I have no noticeable latency at all with the Creative.
(Creative ASIO, audio creation modus, Dolby/DTS switched off)

No, i don't think you will hear the difference if there is any.
You can change the sound several times more by turning your head 5 degrees to one side or move your speakers one inch ;-)

So if you don't have any problems with too high latency, then save the money

Hi,

Currently I am using Pianoteq with a Creative X-Fi PCI-e card which is working fine.
I am considering buying a 'better' external sound card from Focusrite. (Scarlett range)

Does anyone know if the sound quality (which is fine for my untrained ears with the Creative) will improve or will this not be noticeable at all?

Does anyone have experience with this?
