I always use dbpoweramp, which still seems to be free as version 10 (if you can find one), and is a mere 26$ today. It converts greatly into anything, so for example I often convert my wav files into flac or ape files (lossless) Xou can find it here
I choose XXX files and let them batch convert into mp3 or ogg or whatever. dbpoweramp gives you a lot of options, like a somewhat "hit and miss" voice removal - obviously not needed for your piano files, but maybe for other stuff^^ - or "keep the date" or whatever.

the lame (=into mp3) encoder is free, so you can use any freeware program, like the mentioned Format factory. My suggestion is just one to add to the excellent ones above as I am happy with dbpoweramp since ages.

It's free, but the Limitations state "14 day free trial". Wouldn't this mean it actually costs $35USD to keep it going longer?

And there are some installation warnings about other non-related software being installed on your computer.

I'm not a fan of "free lunches"; nothing is really free - it simply has hidden costs somewhere else. In some cases, the hidden cost is an inferior product.

As you know, Pianoteq does not render or convert to mp3.

I have a program that will batch convert wave files to mp3 files. And it's FAST.

No, it's not free like Audacity, but is (IMO) much more convenient to use. A LIFETIME license is $50 CAD. Not many bargains like that.

Sorry, late to the show on this post, but I do know that Pianoteq can be invoked from the command line or terminal, and there are a few options available.

Example (on my mac):

$ /Applications/Pianoteq.app/Contents/MacOS/Pianoteq --help

Options from command-line:
 --no-prefs        : start Pianoteq without using any saved preference
 --no-audio-prefs  : start Pianoteq with a clean audio/midi configuration
 --prefs FILENAME  : stores the preferences in the specified file
 --fxp FILENAME    : load an FXP file on startup
 --preset NAME     : load a preset on startup
 --midi FILENAME   : load a midi file
 --wav FILENAME    : export midi file as wav, and quit
 --rate FREQ       : change the sample rate for the exported wav
 --mono            : export the wav file as mono
 --headless        : do not show up the graphical interface
Example of use: Pianoteq --preset "M3 Close Mic" --midi foo.mid --wav foo.wav

(Yes, a rather old version of PTQ on this computer, but I'm sure 3.6.7 is the same.)

As you can see, you can have Pianoteq load a MIDI file and preset, and render a WAV file automatically. Using a simple bash or batch script, you could repeat this for all your MIDI files, then use some kind of batch conversion utility to convert the WAV files into MP3 files.

The only export is .wav, play, standard or pro.
This is a lossless way of recording your work to file.
The only way is indeed the long way, to load each midi file and save as .wav one by one.
However, you could batch convert your .wav files to .mp3's using 'Switch Sound File Converter'. This would speed things up al little, if you're not already doing so?

The alternative would be to load all your midi files back to back (on same track, but separated) into a VST host, load PianoTeq as an Instrument. Save as mp3 and then chop them all up. That would be a lot quicker (I think!).
