Sorry, I must have missed that comment by Proteq.

I don't usually keep my Pianoteq renderings in wave form because I play solo piano, and can always do them again - the midi files take very little HDD space. And besides, Pianoteq is always improving, so keeping an old rendering seems pointless when I can do a better one.

Nice but remember one thing: .mp3 compression is destructive so as you convert to mp3 a non compressed format (be it .wav .aif .sd2 and a like) you loose quality forever. You can convert mp3 back to a non compressed file for compatibility reasons but you won't gain anything concerning quality. You should keep your originals if you want to master an hi quality audio Cd later on.

Some CD players will play mp3 files (the one in my car will). Since audio in the car is always affected to some extent by road and vehicle noise, I use mp3 files when I'm driving as a high fidelity file isn't much use. I convert to 44,100 320 mbps mp3 files.

The big advantage of mp3's is that you can get many more files on a CD, BUT (and it's a big but): I believe that if you use Nero (or whatever) to burn the files, it will convert them to cda files which are about as large as the original wave files.

What I do is drag and drop the mp3 files to the CD. I was able to put 32 mp3 files on a CD - try that with wave or cda files!! And these are full length songs - the shortest is 2:50, but some are in excess of seven minutes.

Just checked - actually I did use Nero, but didn't burn cda files (the standard CD file).

An example: standard CD, the total is 455 MB whereas the mp3 files take 83 MB.

Hello..thanks you are correct..tried the 16bit files & I hava CD..it took a few tries though..

When I converted to 16-bit Wav from MIDI the first time, I had trouble playing the files in Win7..when I used the high quality version ,Win Media kicked in & played the files . Also thot I would mention

You are right Murray, to burn an audio CD they have to be dithered to 16 bit.
I would raise PT polyphony and export 16 bit wav directly from PTQ.

Hi, I think the problem is that CD audio is only 16bit. DVDs can do 24bit but 32bit is probably only for production.

If you only want to move them to another machine then writting a data disc should be fine but for use as an audio CD you probably need to convert to 16bit.

Hi ...I have converted my MIDI files to WAV with Pianoteq Play.
Now I would like to burn them to CD.
Windows Media will play these WAV files in XP & Win7 64 bit
However neither operating system will recognize the files to burn to CD.
Nero also will not recognize them.
Is there an easy solution to enable Windows to utilize my WAV-32bit Pianoteq files, retain the quality & allow a CD to be created?
