What a fantastic idea, xkuruma. Thanks for sharing it. This is the future of music performance perhaps?
Apart from the current delay / sound quality, there are seemingly no limits to what can be achieved through this type of musical communication in years to come.

Thanks also to dalahast, for suggesting a workaround. I've not heard of soundflower before or LineIn, but they sound like very useful tools. You can never have toO many ins/ outs after all!

1) Download Soundflower (free, too lazy to link; just google it).
2) Download LineIn (google that one too, also free).
3) Set your Mac's output device to Soundflower (2ch)—do this either in System Preferences, or you can use the shortcut of option-clicking the volume menu to get the input and output settings (nifty, hm?)
4) Open LineIn. Set the input to Soundflower (2ch) and the output to your speakers / headphones (this is so you can hear what you're playing, too, not just your friend). Click the passthrough button to start passing audio.
5) Set the output device in Pianoteq to Soundflower (2ch).

Voilà, you should be set once you tell Skype to use Soundflower (2ch) instead of your actual mic.

Hello all, I have just purchased a license for Pianoteq play and it's blown me away so far with the sound quality and responsiveness. but there's one thing else I'd like to do with it..

The thing is, me and my friend play piano through skype (both mac, both plug in an audio cable from the piano's output into the mac Line In) and it's amazingly fun, since I live in Chile and he lives in Portugal, haha.
I'd like to know if there's any way to make this happen but using the Pianoteq sound, and making Skype believe it's the microphone input, so I can play online.
