Hi Guy,

You may want to try to disable multi-core rendering, maybe that would help.

Is it an issue that will happen everytime you load that specific mainstage project on your quad-core ? I would be interested if you could supply me ( at support@pianoteq.com ) such a mainstage project (preferably one that uses only pianoteq and no other software instrument).

Hi!

I just bought Pianoteq, as a replacement for Ivory, because I was sick of the dongle issue, and because I wanted a solution that didn't take 6 months to re-install! :-)

However, I used it in Mainstage last night, at a gig, running from within Mainstage 2.1.2 32-bit, running into a Madi HDSPE, on a big Quad Core M-Pro with 12GB RAM, 15000rpm SAS drive. We are a duelling piano band, so we use two 88-key mother keyboards for 'piano' and layers, and two 49-key mother keyboards for LH bass.

There were initially 4 instances of Pianoteq running (two G3s and two Rhodes). I got CPU overload immediately when playing complex passages on ONE of the two pianos, with a reasonable amount of sustain pedal, and the entire Mainstage output dropping out for a few tenths of a second. I tried adjusting max polyphony, optimistic CPU, reverb, etc., but there were still drop outs. Within 5 minutes of the sound check, I had to revert back to Ivory, which worked perfectly for the rest of the night and gig.

I've looked through the forum, searching for Mainstage, and I can't see anyone else having the same problem.

Is this a known issue, and is it because of the higher CPU load due to synthesis, as opposed to streaming samples, and is it fixable?

Thanks!

Guy Harris
PianoJam BV
+31 638628394
www.pianojam.nl
