It might be a bit harder to achieve 127 when playing a chord, assuming of course that it is quite difficult to reach 127 even on a single note. When playing a single note, you can focus all your strength on that one note, but when playing a chord, it may be that it's a bit more difficult to produce the same force on each of the notes.

Greg.

Hello Jarppa,

I can't think of any reason why a chord should have restricted note velocities when you are able to approach 127 note-on velocity with a single note played. Pianoteq and other virtual instruments only "read" the note-on velocities they are sent; they do not / should not modify the incoming stream of date in any manner.

Here is something to check out: If you have a midi sequencing program, such as Sonar, Cubase, Logic or Digital Performer, please try recording the same chord, and then the loud single note. Check to see what the note-on velocities are registering.

Cheers,

Joe

Hello,

I have been playing around with Pianoteq demo for some days now and noticed strange behaviour with my DP when inspecting velocity levels.

If i play only one note as loud as I can, i get a velocity level close to 127 as I should. But when I play a chord or any other group of notes, I suppose I should get the same 127 for all the notes. But I don't. The values keep varying between 90 and 100 or so.

Is this normal? Do you guys here have such "feature" in your keyboards or is this some Kawai's internal method to limit sound levels from peaking too loud? If so, it seems stupid to transmit lowered velocity values via midi also.

Anyway, Pianoteq is a fantastic software. The sound is so much more alive than my DP's native sound.
