Thanks to all and especially Cellomangler!!

Here is the solution for my case:

1. plug the DP to the PC
2. uninstall the MIDI driver
3. unplug the DP
3. run the MIDIFIX.EXE (running this patch before uninstalling the MIDI driver don't work in my case)
4. reboot PC
5. plug DP to the PC
6. waiting for Windows detects the DP and installs the MIDI driver
7. unplug the DP
8. install the Kawai USB MIDI driver (Windows MIDI driver is not enough for my case)
9. reboot again the PC
10. plug the DP to the PC
11. launch PIANOTEQ
11. yeah, finally it works!!!

I took the liberty of looking up your keyboard and looking over the manual. (That's a nice-looking keyboard.)

I would try setting the Kawai to Omni in its internal channel settings, in case there's some kind of conflict. This will at least let you know what the problem is for future reference.

There's also a channel mute command in the operating system. Be sure its off.

(Local control can stay on--that just means that the internal sounds will play, in most keyboards. Just turn the volume all the way down to cut the sound.) You'll get this to work. It always takes some trial and error...

My keyboard is Kawai CA63, I'm using the connection "USB to host" which is an USB Midi interface.

As Jake Jonhson asked: I changed the Local Control parameter to OFF in the Midi Settings Menu of the keyboard and the Midi Channel is 1 by default.

Some additional information that may be useful:

(1) What model is the keyboard? Jake referred to this. Some keyboard have MIDI IN/OUT, LINE IN/OUT, and no USB (mine), while some are configured differently.

(2) What model and brand is the interface? Some have ASIO built in or "native" which is the best, many do not. ASIO-4-ALL works but isn't as good a solution as an interface that has native ASIO. And this can be misleading too - some interfaces claim native ASIO, but it doesn't work well.

I would contact Kawai tech support for assistance in making sure the piano is connected properly to the computer with the proper drivers.

1. Do you have the midi cable running from your keyboard's midi OUT to your computer's usb port? Or is this a keyboard that has a midi port instead of a pair of midi in and out sockets?

2. Does the midi keyboard have a Midi section somewhere in its operating system? There may be a command such as Send midi (Yes\No) in the keyboard. Be sure it's set to send midi data.

3. Did you try rebooting the computer with the keyboard still on? Some drivers don't get registered without a reboot.

4. Do I understand correctly that you are running the midi cables directly from the keyboard to your computer? (As opposed to an external sound card and then to the computer.)

By the way, what Kawai are you using? (I'm assuming that you have a Kawai keyboard, since you're using a Kawai driver.)

Hello everybody,

I'm new in the forum.

I'm trying to connect my digital piano to Pianoteq but I don't succeed

I have installed ASIO4all, then installed Pianoteq (demo version), and then the Kawai USB Midi Driver.

When I connect the DP to the PC with the usb cable, I think it is well recognized because I can "safely remove" it.

In the window Pianoteq Options -> Devices:
Active midi inputs: Listen to all midi inputs - checked but below I have this:
(no midi inputs available)

Audio device type: ASIO
Device: ASIO4ALL v2
Active output channel: SoundMAX HD Audio 1 - checked
SoundMAX HD Audio 2 - checked
Sample rate: 44100Hz
Audio buffer size: 128 samples

When I click Test -> it's ok, I hear the sound.

What's wrong??!!
Please, anybody can help me.
