Well, it seems not, at least for now.

It’s an interesting journey, this one, from simulating what exists (Organteq) to creating what doesn’t exist… though based on what does exist (Airteq).
That’s where LFOs come in, for example, offering “electronic” control over a physical (emulated) element, such as a tube.

I understand that this must be more complex to implement than in a “normal” synth, because the model isn’t based on VCO-type oscillators, which either sound or don’t, but rather varies its behavior depending on air pressure, the type of tube, etc. This could result, when using an LFO with full control (amplitude, frequency, and waveform), in it making no sound at all, or sounding strange or unpredictable; I understand that the range offered to the user would need to be carefully adjusted.

Despite everything, I support the idea: I wouldn’t mind taking the risk of getting unexpected results; in fact, when tinkering with modular synthesizers or software equivalents, like what you can do in environments such as Max or Pure Data, you stumble upon wonders just as often by chance, and that’s welcome, especially since we’re right in the midst of exploring new sonic territories (if there are any left at this point), and besides, we can’t break anything, it’s just software, haha. Happy tweaking!!

Mnls wrote:

Hey!
I really enjoy palying around with Airteq!

Wondering if I´m just too blind - or is it true that LFOs can not be set to be random?

Thanks a lot!
Mnls
