This sounds still way too bright. Low mids and bass is far too low. What kind of phones of loudspeaker are you using when creating the sound?

oops i forgot to update, i made some adjustments to the sound to make it far less bright. my ears are definitely getting fatigue from all of these micro adjustments and long listening sessions

Hall reverb (made by ear)
Miking taken from the 19th Chopin Competition (Schoeps MK2 as AB direct pair, and 3 omni distant mics; picked the 4006)
EQ'd purely by ear with 0 audio engineering knowledge, chorus to add movement during long sustains.
Velocity curve from Yamaha Disklavier, hammer hardness adjusted to velocity. Standard tuning, slight change in stretch points.
Slightly increased impeadance, stock design settings. Heavily reduced hammer noise and altered spectrum profile.
Minor revision UTC 13:34: Mic and reverb adjustment

Very promising indeed.

But what I would be interested in much more are settings like this for the player position. Did you develop settings for that as well?

Hello Paul,
I'd love to make a player perspective for this preset, but unfortunately due to my equipment limitations, I'm unable to create a very accurate player perspective.
I'd also run into the stereo image being too narrow/wide if I change from speaker, headphones, or even openback headphones. Some other issues that you can run into with player perspective can be with the tonality of each headphone and speaker. Maybe if i have access to some proper studio monitors I could create one, but definitely not anytime soon.

But what I would be interested in much more are settings like this for the player position. Did you develop settings for that as well?

Unfortunately, the middle to upper register of the piano still soua snds synthetic and a little on the plastic side (atleast to my ears).
Any input would be well appreciated. Getting the tone right was almost purely by hearing, which took me hours on end to get to get right, so don't expect something thats immediately perfect the first time you try it. I'll update this mulltiple times, probably to the point where each update takes weeks to improve something.

(yes I know its a steinway, I don't have other references for other instruments. might do later)

Steinway D (HB) Live Recording
