Dexed is the free easy option.

If you want EXACTLY the sound of the DX7 (down to the DAC, compander etc), Plogue makes this:

But I think you have more chance with syngular.

I agree that the FM piano in the Electric piano pack sounds terrible! The upper keys are ok but lower down it's dreadful.

I thought the same thing - than Syngular would have something. However, there's not much in that one. The patch "Syngular Keys Harmonic Convergence" is about as close as I can find so you might get somewhere with that. (I don't have the pack so don't know what's possible with editing.)

I also agree that there are easier ways to get those sounds than Pianoteq. Another option is Native Instruments FM8 which is currently on sale for $10/£9 which is a big discount.

Personally, I can't make head or tail of FM synthesis so, if you're like me, Dexed is probably the better option and just use presets or the (probably millions of) custom DX7 patches out there.

Epiano / Fulltines, you can have the same sound for free with Dexed an the sysex.

Otherwise, with the Electric pack, you have the MKII FM Alike preset:
"A more synthetic Electric Piano similar to the famous Yamaha FM Synthesizers with a wired timbre. Switch on the pre-set Phaser on fx1 for more motion."

For me it's a bad preset, absolutely not near an FM synth, and very unpleasant for my ears but maybe you can start from this point.
