Well now I've got access to the trial, I can answer my own questions:
Make pipes - NO, we are presented with a set selection of Flues and Reeds; one Flute, one Diapason and one String - we cannot alter the diameter of these to 'flavour' them or raise/lower the window or even taper them top to toe (or viceversa), change their material, etc.
And a set selection of four Reeds; These could be most fun if we could change the size of the bell, chamber, taper, length, diameter, material, etc
Microtonal - NOT SURE, pipes will respond to pitch bend but this is down the processing line. Bend a pipe up/down an octave and then play the actual note and hear the difference. It sounds like a compromise.
You can, however, alter the overall pitch of the pipe though so 8 foot and 4 foot pitches are possible along with phase effects (Celeste / Ondamaris).
MPE - YES, you will need to set up your own 'connections'
As it stands it's a promising start ... Bien fait !
Will I be buying it? I need to delve more on the MPE side and subtleties of the air offering ... add the possibility to alter the pipes as described above - most definitely !

In this day and age, when it feels like everything in synthesis has already been invented and the main differences between virtual instruments lie in their factory preset packs, it seems unbelievable that a new niche like Airteq—rooted in organ pipe physics on one side and classic synth modulation systems on the other—could be created and actually work. It's just getting started, but the mere fact that it exists as an instrument with no real competition (something similar happened back in the day with Pianoteq) and with that openness toward more experimental sound design—stepping away from the emulator world (wonderful as it is) of Pianoteq and Organteq—makes me think it has a bright future.
Right now, I'm having a blast testing the patches designed for a Breath Controller (I use Yamaha's with a VL70-m). It's a last-minute addition that will delight anyone who owns one, as well as those with a Wind Controller who know how to play it. Thank you, Modartt!!
