Newly expanded when?

Since version 9

I would love to get that sound even with weaker bass out of Pianoteq.

I’m not just talking about the amount of low end, I’m talking about the overall bass tone. The real SK-EX sounds incredible.

I still don’t find the low end very convincing even though I love Pianoteq overall.

I can’t get the Pianoteq SK-EX to provide that bass. Or the 280VC.

If anything, the new Steinway models have become my favorite, even though I never loved them prior to v9.

If Modartt's 280VC is any indication, with its newly expanded range of 105 notes, it certainly won't be. I also hope their version of the Imperial also has 105 notes, and also the other concert grands in Modartt's lineup receive the extended range as well.

Besides exact* models of existing Pianos (eg. Fazioli) coming so close that the original manufactor accepts it as his, there is a different angel to wish for.
PREPARING such a copy. Or a model of its own: "Prepared Piano".

In real life, these pianos will undergo manipulations to achive a certain behaviour adaptet to the type of music that the pianist  will perform at a given location and event. Pianoteq allows to copy this "tuning" as well. Depending on the Software level, we have all the possibilities to make such changes as well. And this is not restricted by the "boundaries" a tuner would face by the specific properties of the given piano in front of him.  We have access to so much parameters that we can literally build a new piano. in so far as we are able to this,  some more , some less.
Pianoteq is taking this in account, giving us presets to have "common" adaptions available for those like me, that are not good at tuning.
I am not able to build a copy of any given Model.

But I might be able to create something different. I might either copy the ideas of some creative person or comming up with ideas of my own - PREPARING a given model.
For some models, pianoteq already offers a preset of a prepared piano. Steinway D Prepared for instance.
But what kind of preparation was modeled? I cannot see this, and there are no options to pick from. Things like: pencils placed on top of strings, strings finger plugged from above and so on.
While the preparation applied will change the piano model into something different. there could be a model of its own "Prepared Piano" coming with presets of a wide variity of preparations to chose from. Syngular might be considered as a step in this direction, but while Syngular expands into realms broader than piano, this "prepared Piano" model should work within the boundaries of a piano.
There are already wishes in the forum for bolts of different materials to put between strings or a mandoline rail. So the wish for a piano that cannot only be tuned, but prepared is present within the user community.

Good idea -  it is always good to have many presets to choose from, depending on the music one is working on.

Steinway and Steingraeber have Prepared presets. They sound a bit like when my pupils wanted to surprise me ( 1982) and stuck thumbtacks on felt hammers in the classroom piano. It sounded like an out-of-tune piano in the 1930s……
I didn't know how to react...but they were very inventive. 12 years old. We had been listening to John Cages music . The prepared concept was pioneered by avant-garde composer John Cage in 1940

I always thought that faz's and Bosis sound very similar, so would personally be more interested in a CFX/uprights for versatility... but wouldn't turn up my nose on any of these options
