Talk about the placebo effect. I have no proof of this whatsoever, but I get the sense that legacy version/subversion personal presets are being better respected with the upgrades. At least so far with 9. It's been very satisfying continuing to work my flattened merge (with many many changes) from 8.4. There is no way to know if this even partly explains your enjoyment, but I sense greater continuity and/or more direct addressing of prior version/subversion (relative) weaknesses

However, I updated the other day and for me it seems like a quite significant update. According to the changeling the most important updates is some revoicings and an update to the Steinway B warm preset and I must say that the later seems to be quite good. I haven't been that active with Pianoteq lately but after the update I sat down and played the Steinway B warm preset and I felt very good. It feels lively and the bass has this very authentic inharmonicy of a smaller grand. The treble is also easier to the ears with headphones which has always been a bit of a hassle for me in Pianoteq. It just feels and sound much better than I remember it to be before the update and has now been my go-to preset for practicing the last week. Does anyone else feel that the 9.1.1 brings a significant positive change to the Steinway B or am I just experience a placebo effect?

I like the B now so perhaps it is improved (unless now I have placebo effect)

Thanks for confirming. That’s it, like you I just like it more. I can’t really say what’s different but there is a sense of realism in the Steinway B warm preset that hasn’t been there before. I’ve used it pretty much exclusively as my go to digital piano for practicing for about a month now and it feels great.

Unrelated to the B but try the NY D Jazz preset now, I'm finding it to be one of the more realistic. I never liked the Steinways before but got them since I felt Modartt would be regularly updating them.
