Do not drag it to Applications folder.  Do not try to run it in terminal.

I'm on a Mac Studio 2023 (M2 Max CPU) running Sequoia 15.5. The current Pianoteq 8 Pro (8.4.1) was/is installed without an issue or problem.
I have also installed Pianoteq on my Linux laptop (AMD64 CPU).

The installer in the .dmg is a separate app that can be run from within the .dmg window once once the .dmg disk image has been mounted, rather than copying the installer app to the Applications folder.

The installer will unpack and install the Pianoteq standalone app within an enclosing folder named "Pianoteq 8" in the Applications folder, and will install the VST instrument versions of Pianoteq into /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST (and VST3).

Did you buy Pianoteq directly from Modartt, and initiate the download from within your registered-user-account area at Modartt.com?

Your step-by-step instructions were useful to confirm that I was trying to use the installer correctly.

I'm on a Mac mini 2023 running sequoia 15.5.

If I open the installer app from the terminal, I can get the more specific sounding but equally generic error:
_LSOpenURLsWithCompletionHandler() failed with error -10810.

I have pianoteq installed on Linux ok, so this is a just a FYI that there may be a compatibility issue with the installer app on the very latest patch of sequoia.

I can copy this application into my applications folder, but when I try to run it, it just gives the error:

Don't move the installer to the applications folder.
* Download the .dmg (disk image) file.
* Click (or double-click or right-click-->Open) the .dmg file (located probably in the Downloads folder) to open the disk image.
* In the window that opens, double-click (or right-click-->Open) the "Install Pianoteq 8 STAGE" icon.
* That action will unpack and open the Pianoteq installer app.
* Follow the step-by-step instructions in that installer app to install Pianoteq. The installer app will place all the necessary files in their correct locations.
* You'll then find the Pianoteq 8 folder in your applications folder. Inside the Pianoteq 8 folder will be the Pianoteq app itself as well as a documentation folder and an uninstall app.

Which one do you have? Is it compatible? anyway, to install, double click on the blue Modartt brand and follow instructions
