Thanks Philippe. I find it fascinating that you are able to model all these different instruments, (apparently) using the same larger model of percussion/resonator/soundboard.

Ah-ha! Thank you all for your replies, and I do understand the reasoning.

Now I have another question, though, perhaps for Philippe: you say the clavinet required a new model, but what about the Electric Pianos? Do they use the same model (or a lot similar) to the acoustic pianos than the Clav?

The answer might be obvious, sorry – I'm not all that familiar with the inner workings of these (semi-)acoustic instruments, nor how close they are to the original acoustic pianos.

Creart, you are right, the clavinet did require a lot of work as it needed a new physical model. Doobya, no problem with your question nor sanity check. We are just more used to reply to technical questions than commercial ones.

If I had to guess at the reasoning, it would be that the YC5 add-on was offered free with purchase of Pianoteq as part of last summer's sales promotion. Therefore, I assume it's offered at a reduced price (relative to other add-ons) for those who did not get a chance to take advantage of the deal.

i don't know, but maybe it's the amount of programming that makes the price and not the amount of instruments...

I've been wondering the following ever since the new Clavinet addon was released, and since nobody is asking, I will...

I couldn't help but notice that the new addon is priced the same as previous addons which include 2 instruments. The only previous commercial addon with only 1 instrument (YC5) is at a lower price point.

I hope I'm missing something, but this, well, doesn't add up. Don't get me wrong: I love the sound of the new Clav and the work on the interface, the wah-wah, etc.

Is that new interface what the apparent extra cost is for? (the YC5 uses the same interface as all other acoustic pianos). Or will Modartt surprise us (and Feline with a free Pianet upgrade to the Clav addon? Or are all future addons just going to be more expensive?

Either way – I know, it's still inexpensive for the quality, and again: love the Clav.

Still... I'm curious!
