It would be really interesting to have a piano with only 1 or 2 strings per note, or 4 or more strings.  These would have very different sound characteristics.

Besides, the KiVIR harpsichords sound somewhat off with 2 strings per stop (2 on 8' I, 2 on 8' II, totalling 4 strings per note).  Being able to set them to 1 string per stop would reflect the reality more.

Yeah, that would be cool. One of their pianos already has 4 strings per note, so I think the functionality is already there, it just needs to be enabled in the end-user interface. Being a "per note" and "advanced" features it would be probably a "pro" feature, and that is fine to me.
