I have no information about the composer, Guise de Moncey.
And I don’t know if I can like this piece, is it a students composition? Some parts I like, some parts not…The piece was first published in 1898 as part of "l'Orgue Moderne," where it is included in "Livraison 12" (Book 12.) It is dedicated to the famous Charles-Marie Widor (1844-1937). I read on Contrebombarde that:
”the identity of Guise de Moncey is uncertain. Given that he published a piece in the series "L’orgue moderne", he was probably a pupil of either A. Guilmant or Ch-M. Widor as this series showcased compositions by their students. One source suggests 'Eduard' for his first name. Another gives d. 1924”
I feel this piece a bit uncomfortable….don’t know what to think about it..All the best, everyone

i think this is the first time i've heard you express such feelings about a piece. i agree it is something of a mixed bag. but if it's a student work maybe we have to give them partial credit for it in any case i thought you did a great job with it.
