The playing isn't mine. It is Ernő Dohnányi playing Liszt in a translated into a piano roll (then aged) and analyzed into a MIDI file.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lbtql8...sp=sharing - softer mez hammer
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hAeJr1...sp=sharing - brighter mez hammer

Using PT 8.30 (a historical subversion) I made 2 presets for limited range MIDI sources. After discovering supra.stanford.edu via
"Paderewski in your living room - pianoteq 8 - welte mignon" by williwow I thought I would share a couple of results. The brighter mezzo hammer is closest to the presets I've been working with the past week. On an impulse, I also thought to try a softer mez hammer. Even though my impulse came as a secondary reaction (after overcompensating for the resonance changes in 8.31), I liked the results enough to try it on my standing favorite custom preset branch.

@@BEGIN: ROLL
@EXP_WELTE_FAST_CRES:     300 ms (time from welte_p to welte_mf)
@ROLL_TYPE:         welte-red
@THRESHOLD:        249
@LENGTH_DPI:        300.25ppi
@IMAGE_WIDTH:        4096px
@IMAGE_LENGTH:        347400px
@ROLL_WIDTH:        3898.64px
@HARD_MARGIN_BASS:    58px
@HARD_MARGIN_TREBLE:    127px
@MAX_BASS_DRIFT:    11px
@MAX_TREBLE_DRIFT:    14px
@AVG_SOFT_MARGIN_SUM:    12.36px
@DRIFT_RANGE:        8.34px
@DRIFT_MIN:        3.97px
@DRIFT_MAX:        -4.36px
@PRELEADER_ROW:        2448px
@LEADER_ROW:        6139px
@FIRST_HOLE:        9307px
@LAST_HOLE:        346850px
@END_MARGIN:        550px
@MUSICAL_LENGTH:    337543px
@MUSICAL_HOLES:        23970
@MUSICAL_NOTES:        7591
@AVG_HOLE_WIDTH:    19.7px
@ANTIDUST_COUNT:    172
@BAD_HOLE_COUNT:    0
@EXP_SOFTWARE:         https://github.com/pianoroll/midi2exp
@EXP_SOFTWARE_DATE:    Oct 29 2019 10:30:47
@EXP_DATE:        Tue Oct 29 10:39:14 2019
@EXP_WELTE_MF:         60
@ACCEL_INCH:         12
@EXP_WELTE_FAST_DECRS:     400 ms (time from welte_p to welte_f)
@TRACKER_EXTENSION:     13px
@DRUID:         bg098gg3899
@EDGE_TEAR_COUNT:    0
@BASS_TEAR_COUNT:    0
@TREBLE_TEAR_COUNT:    0
@DUST_SCORE:        33ppm
@DUST_SCORE_BASS:    0ppm
@DUST_SCORE_TREBLE:    66ppm
@SHIFTS:        0
@HOLE_SEPARATION:    37.7234px
@HOLE_OFFSET:        3.8069px
@TRACKER_HOLES:        100
@CATKEY:         10763678
@REISSUE:         yes
@SOFTWARE_HOLE:     https://github.com/pianoroll/roll-image-parser
@LICENSE:         CC BY-NC-SA 4.0
@SOURCE: SUPRA: Stanford University Piano Roll Archive
@PERFORMER:         Dohnányi, Ernő (1877-1960)
@COMPOSER:         Liszt, Franz (1811-1886)
@TITLE:         13th rhapsody
@LABEL:         Welte-Mignon 494
@PURL:             https://purl.stanford.edu/bg098gg3899
@SEARCHWORKS:         https://searchworks.stanford.edu/view/10763678
@CALLNUM: Stanford Libraries CONDON ROLL 187
@SOFTWARE_DATE:        Mar 26 2019 16:32:26
@ANALYSIS_DATE:        Fri Apr  5 18:39:42 2019
@ANALYSIS_TIME:        79.63sec
@COLOR_CHANNEL:        green
@CHANNEL_MD5:        67fa141a33958605622a3f2c92b44753
@BRIDGE_FACTOR:        1.37
@MANUAL_EDITS:        no
@MIDIFILE_TYPE:     exp
@VERSION: 1.1
@EXP_WELTE_P:         38
@ACCEL_PERCENT:     0.22
@EXP_WELTE_F:         85
@EXP_WELTE_LOUD:     70
@LEFT_HAND_ADJUST:     -5
@EXP_WELTE_SLOW_DECAY:     2380 ms (time from welte_p to welte_mf)
@@END: ROLL
