Both Yamaha and Roland have excellent reputations regarding durability. IIRC, Roland comes with a 10-year warranty. I have an older Roland FP-30 that has been played daily for years, and a Yamaha CP88 (nearly identical action to the P-515) and have played that for the last couple years. No issues with either one, bought both of those used.

Roland stage pianos do not come with a 10 year warranty. Only the HP, LX, GP series come with the 10-year warranty.

I agree with you the Roland actions are indestructible and they are perfect midi controller . The P525 has got a good action but has some limitations as a midi controller, for instance it sends a fixed value of 64 for note - off velocities ( it is a regression , compared to the P515) but internal sounds are better than Roland’s one , but the most important is the action and that is a personal matter , both Roland PHA-4 and PHA-50 are a bit heavier than P525’one but the level of control on low velocities is outstanding . I own a MP11 and a FP10 when I travel and it is shocking to see that it is way easier to control velocities on the F10 which costs 5x less!

I'd also look at the Yamaha P-515. The P-525 action is different (lighter) than the P515, and not necessarily an improvement over the P515, though I'm sure some folks prefer it. DGX670 and FP-60X actions will be more "entry-level" actions, though both are very serviceable, and better than the action you'll find on much more expensive pianos (e.g. Nord). The FP-90X, P-525, and P-515 actions are considered "premium" tier actions. My personal preference would be the P515 (NWX action), but play for yourself if possible first. Personal preference matters more than anything.

Hi all,

I'm looking for a digital piano that has the following characteristics:
- A portable/lightweight piano with a cabinet for the 3 pedals (permanent installation) - approx 30m2
- Integrated speakers
- USB Audio to support Pianoteq (on iPad mainly, sometime laptop)

So far, I have seen : Yamaha P-525 & DGX670, Roland FP-90X & FP-60X.

I'm mainly interested in piano, so I don't need really need fancy sounds or features. I'm intermediate level, playing every day.

Some questions:
- Do you see big differences in the keyboard actions that justify the price?
- Do you see other products that I should look at (same price range)?
- I have used the Yamaha interface it's automatically recognised (so easy to plug with Pianoteq), is it the same with Roland?
- Any feedback on the long-term usage (parts broken, etc)?
