Yes, the rack suspend/bypass buttons are probably better because they are slightly larger on the screen, if for no other reason. The audio enable/disable "button" is a small checkbox.

Come to think of it, the Chainer VST host ( http://www.xlutop.com/html/chainer.html ) has nice big "power" buttons next to each instrument which would do the job nicely too. I suspect most if not all hosts will provide an easy way to mute Pianoteq.

If you're willing to use Pianoteq inside a VST host, you might find that the VST host can do what you want.
For example, in Cantabile Lite (freeware - see http://www.cantabilesoftware.com/download/ ), I see that it has an "All Notes Off" button, and also another button to completely enable/disable the audio output. I get the impression that the audio enable/disable button is more applicable, because you will be continuing to play from your MIDI controller (yes?) . I.e - if you use All Notes Off, that will only affect notes that are CURRENTLY sounding - it will not prevent FUTURE notes from sounding.

Cantabile Lite also allows you to mute individual racks using the suspend or bypass buttons (they are slightly different). I think Cantabile Lite might allow you to have an external input go through the program and would allow you to switch between the two by pressing appropriate buttons. I am pretty sure the purchase versions of the program allow this to be done. I have never tried this, myself, but do use Cantabile Solo in other ways. The documentation is pretty good.

Thank you all. However...

Glenn, even I set the volume slider to the minimum (-32db) I can still hear the Pianoteq.
Julien, I have no equipment to send an All-Sounds-Off message to the Pianoteq.

I am now using the mute button of Windows Vista, but it mutes all sound of the PC.

I would be happy if Pianoteq had a mute button on the surface of Pianoteq window where I could click it directly.

Pianoteq also handles the "All Sounds Off" midi message which can be used to mute it.

Not that I'm aware of.

I can think of two ways to mute Pianoteq: move volume slider to far left, OR, set A and B pianos to same setting except set the volume of one to zero - then toggle between A and B.

Hi, everyone. This is the first time that I have posted to this forum.

I sometimes switch among my silent piano's internal tone generator, an external hardware tone generator and Pianoteq. I tried to find a mute button by searching the word "mute" in Pianoteq's manual but nothing hit.

Is there a mute button?
