Ah, Dorico... how can the folks who invented ASIO and VST have the worst, most consistently annoying ASIO/VST implementation to be found anywhere?

Try this:

Open Dorico. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences. In the list at the left, choose Play. Scroll to the bottom and open Advanced Options. Uncheck Enable ASIO-Guard. Apply, Close, then close and restart Dorico.

Hi,
I am using Dorico Elements on Windows 11 with RME Babyface interface and Pianoteq-8.2 Stage

Setup:
Keyboard → Midi Out → Babyface Midi In → Babyface USB → Notebook → Dorico.

When I use Pianoteq Standalone Player (Dorico not started) I get 48 samples buffer size.
But when I load Pianoteq as VST Instrument into Dorico I get 512 samples (which is to slow to play the keyboard without audible delay).
I can’t find a setting in Dorico to reduce the buffer size.

Is it normal to get 512 samples when using Pianoteq as a vst instrument?

The babyface ASIO driver is set to 48 samples - Dorico and Pianoteq Standalone both show those 48 samples.
