The piano is deliberately kept slightly out of tune to embrace imperfections. It's worth noting that this rendition is based on Ferruccio Busoni's piano transcription, allowing for the use of the sustain pedal (as indicated in the original sheet music). This includes the intentional fluctuation of tempo, even in the fugue.
