Started listening and I was like "Ok, not bad but isn't transporting me as most of your other performances" but once you hit the first groove at around 35-40 seconds it hooked me in and proceeded to kick me around for the next 4 minutes. Exceptional!

In short, this is fire! Improvising! I think it is exceptionally good, impressive.
And the ending - love those ending chords 4,30 - 4,36. Especially the last chord! wow!

I read somewhere that ”Blues, for the most part, has a somewhat limited harmonic and formal setting. Speaking generally, blues uses a 12 or 16 bar format, usually I, IV, and V chords, and the blues scale. However, as blues grew into other forms of music, like rock and jazz, the piano player was liberated a bit more.
I think you are probably a bit, just a bit, liberated in this piece and that is a good thing

thank you so much for your comments.  i agree this tune is more than a bit liberated harmonically but that's really due to McCoy, not me   his playing has always been a huge inspiration for me.

Nicely modal. Very well-played! Not too aggressive or harsh, sensitive. By the way, what model and keyboard did you use on this?

thank you so much! to be honest i don't remember which model it is because i try so many different ones.  the keyboard is an ancient Yamaha KX88 that's still going strong.
