Hi,

thanks for your help!

Sorry, If you misunderstood my descriptions. To make it clearer:

The iPad and the headphones were connected as follows:

A) Lightning port of the iPad --- Apple lightning to USB A adapter --- USB-A to USB-B cable --- USB-B end connected to USB to HOST port at the backside of the SC2 unit

B) Headphones with 3.5 mm AUX connector --- Stereo mini jack at the front of the SC2 unit

And this used to work flawlessly, meaning: I heard only the Pianoteq samples through my headphones - and not the pre-installed internal samples of the SC2 unit.

Kind regards!

https://de.yamaha.com/de/products/music...specs.html

Hi, this line is a little bit unclear to me:
"However, I experienced the same." Do you mean Garage band didn't receive MIDI either? If that's the case, there is likely something wrong with the way iOS communicates with the to-host connection and the problem lies outside of pianoteq. Although the problem is likely caused by the changes in iOS, the party responsible for fixing it would be yamaha, I suppose. So, I think you should contact their help desk. (but that is only my view, maybe I oversee something)

Hi,

Thank you very much for your help!

I followed your suggestions and also tried the Garageband App on my Ipad.
However, I experienced the same. Pianoteq samples output only when headphones are connected to the Aux jack of my Ipad.

Then I tried my Macbook Air M1 connected as follows:

Macbook Air connected to the Silent unit of the piano via the USB to HOST using the Apple USB-A to USB-C Adapter.
Headphones directly connected to the AUX-In jack on the SC2 unit of the piano (and not to the Aux jack of the Macbook).
So it is the same connection as already described in my first post.

Result: works perfectly. I hear the Pianoteq samples through my headphones. And the headphones are not connected to my Macbook!

So it seems that my Ipad is the problem. Maybe it is due to the update to iOS 17 and/ or because it is already too old (iPad 5th Gen, 2017)...

Best regards!

Do I understand correctly that the problem happens since iOS 17 (so, it worked with 16)?
I do not know the solution (I have a different setup), but maybe it is helpful if I try to disentangle your problem. There actually seem to be two problems:
1) The pianoteq appears to get no MIDI input
2) The audio output of the iPad does not feed into the auxiliary input of your piano.

Two things that I would try now
Concerning problem 1: If you have other midi instruments on the iPad: Do they work? (this would tell you if the problem is in pianoteq or the midi management of your iPad)
Concerning problem 2: If you put another sound source into the auxiliary input of your piano, do you hear it in your headphones? (this would tell you if the problem lies in your piano)

Hi all,

I have the following constellation at home

- Yamaha B2 SC2 Silent piano
- Ipad 2017 with IOS 17 (currently 17.1)
- Headphones Yamaha HPH200

The Ipad is connected to the Yamaha B2 SC2, using the original Apple lightning to USB adapter connected to the USB [TO HOST] port on the piano (SC2 unit). The headphones are connected to the AUX-In jack on the SC2 unit of the piano.

When starting Pianoteq, the SC2 unit was detected correctly. Under MIDI devices it says the following:

Active MIDI inputs: "Listen to all MIDI inputs".
Device: "IOS audio
Active audio channels: "SC2 piano 1" "SC2 piano 2".

Problem:

A) Before IOS 17 everything worked smoothly: If I enabled the Silent function on the Yamaha B2 SC2 piano and turned on the SC2 unit, I could output each Pianoteq voice while playing on the Yamaha keyboard directly through the connected headphones.

B) Same configuration as A. Now, on IOS 17 when I play on the Yamaha keyboard, I hear the built-in standard samples from the SC2 unit through the headphones and not the Pianoteq samples. On the other hand, when I play with my fingers on the keyboard on the Ipad, I hear the Pianoteq samples. I only hear the Pianoteq samples when I connect the headphones to the AUX port of the Ipad instead of the SC2 unit - which sounds much worse compared to the SC2 unit.

Any idea what might be wrong here, or anybody has experienced the same problems?
How can I completely reset Pianoteq (maybe a re-installation works)?

Thank you very much!

Kind regards!
