It is a two-piano version of Chick Corea's and Return to Forever's track Señor Mouse. I used a Bechstein for the lower part and a NY Steinway for the upper one, which I slightly panned left and right.
I am working on a version of the track with my band so I took the chance to perform this all piano version also to work on the solo part, which I improvised.

This almost scared me off, but being part of it is what counts in the end, I think. So here is my submission:

The video is based on a 40 pieces piano challenge, I am participating in 2023. I had the idea to compile a video showing my progress at the end of the year to motivate others to join this kind of challenge in 2024 (which did really help me improve my piano playing). Hence this contest was a nice trigger to get things started.

It's a composition I made, I started with a simple theme and the result is quite condensed because I wanted to publish this theme for the contest and also have a coherent ending. A little challenging, few hesitations but at least I proposed something this year

This is played on a Lumatone, which has 280 keys that you can program in any tuning you like, so I programmed it with 31 unequal divisions of the octave in 11-limit just intonation, because I'm a nerd, and because Pianoteq 8 allows you to do such things. I like playing with notes that are very close in tuning to other notes, just a little sharper or flatter, so the piece is grounded in Dorian & Mixolydian modes but has a few different tunings of each note.

This piece features all kinds of rhythmic fun, including a 7 over 4 polyrhythm in the beginning, and all kinds of polymeters in the faster section. I'm excited that I actually got it recorded this morning, I wasn't sure if it was even going to possible to get this done in time for the deadline.
