That's not fair - until you know otherwise.  Modartt might have helped them with the development of this one with say an old version of their technology. Other Arturia synths have been produced with external developers. IOW it's not all in-house.

I will admit that I quite liked Misty on the V3 too - but don't tell Modartt !!!

I liked all of them. They were tonal textures that could work for different material on different days.

As per Mindbullets discussion maybe that is more to be expected than we might imagine!

Interesting. So did Modartt sell Arturia an older less advanced version of the engine?
- or develop this for them? - perhaps on the agreement that any models would be just generic "German grand" etc?
Or perhaps does the text merely reference comparisons with Pianoteq?
Evidently it sounds different and different compromises have been made.

It's a fairly logical move for a company with so many fingers in so many pies like Arturia to outsource to other companies with existing software technology. I know they do that with other synths. Take an older plugin, skin it differently, add or change options. Rinse and repeat.

Trying to do a blind test, I managed clicking the play buttons without looking which file was which. I found out I liked the first more than the second, and the fourth more than the third. So, that's a draw. That's interesting?

However, for me personally, it really doesn't matter too much which one sounds better in a recording. What is essential for me is the connection between the movement of my fingers and the sound in my ears when playing. I agree, it also depends on my mood that particular day... I can only say that I am very satisfied with Pianoteq 8. I would not be surprised if I would also greatly enjoy the V3. By the way, it might even be the case that some midikeyboard-interface-speaker-combinations yield a better experience for V3, where other setups yield a better experience on Pianoteq 8. Probably! - it's all subjective...

Here I'm using part just a few bars of two famous and over-played pieces to demonstrate the accoustic difference between Modartt's PianoTeq 8 and Arturia's Piano V3. All effects have been turned off - just the piano presets.
