I say &#039;strictly&#039; as recorder players are expected to read concert pitch notation. However, the same fingering on a Descant and a Treble produce notes that are not of the same pitch! My point being that recorder players learn which notes sound on which instruments regardless of the same fingering patterns - they are a clever bunch of musicians - LOL.</p><p>It&#039;s a pity that clarinet players do not do the same be they holding a Bb, A or Eb, etc instrument. It would negate us poor accompanist from having to transpose complicated scores at sight. However, it&#039;s a given that you have to do this for singers - maybe they have a cold and don&#039;t want to push the voice too much, or just like a particular piece and can&#039;t get it in their chosen key. It&#039;s fun when the pressure is on !</p>]]></content>
