J. S. Bach (or his eldest son?) Little Prelude in D Major BWV 925

I tried to not play fast (some people play it too fast in my opinion). Read that Bach wanted his students to play in a "Cantible" (singable ) style. A lot of people play way too fast, in my opinion that is not Cantabile.

This piece is probably from Johann Sebastian Bach's "Klavierbüchlein für W. F. Bach” (Wilhelm Friedeman Bach 1710 - 1784, Bachs eldest son)

There is a collection of music compiled for his eldest son Wilhelm Friedeman. It is possible that this 925 is written by Wilhelm hinself. Friedemann’s first job was as organist at St. Sophia’s Church, Dresden. His father wrote the letter of application for him in 1733.

Bach had 20 children with two wifes, Maria Barbara ( 7 children ) and Anna Magdalena ( 13 children ).Sadly, only half of those children survived to adulthood. But of those 10, four (4) became notable composers.

Notice.
Maria Barbara Bach; Bach was her maiden name and she was Johann Sebastian's second cousin (the daughter of Johann Sebastian’s father’s cousin)
Anna Magdalena, she was 20 and Bach 36 when married. She was a singer and a good keyboardplayer. Got the Anna Magdalenas Notebook……

Anyway - I tried to get the music a bit airy and bright and some phrasing, but this had tricky fingering, not so easy. NOT a beginners piece. But I think my tempo works nicely.

https://youtu.be/94833amUhhA

Best wishes,

Stig
